So you’re interested in Cherubs Ladybrook? Let Nursery Manager, Karen tell you more about it…
Cherubs Ladybrook is a purpose built nursery located in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. There are regular bus links into Mansfield, the surrounding areas and further afield and direct access to the A60. We’re proud to be a nursery at the heart of the community, sharing our nursery building with the Ladybrook Surestart Centre.
When it comes to Ofsted I’m proud to say that we have been graded as a “Good” nursery. In our most recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 26th July 2019, Ofsted Inspector, Lianne McElvaney, praised the nursery stating that “Staff create a calm and inclusive setting and children are warmly welcomed. The key- person system works well. As a result, staff understand the unique needs of all children. Young children particularly enjoy hugs and reassurance from staff when parents leave them. Staff support children to take appropriate risks in their play and to learn to keep themselves safe.” and “All children make good progress. Those who speak English as an additional language are supported effectively to develop their communication and language skills. This ensures they make at least good progress and sometimes very good progress.” If you would like to read more, please download the report here.
We have a very well-established team here at Cherubs Ladybrook. Many of my colleagues have been here for years and it’s great to see the same smiley faces everyday. It’s great for us and even better for the children as it means that they are able to build strong bonds with the childcare team, enhancing their time at nursery. All our childcare team are DBS checked and training towards accredited qualifications. We also train the entire team in Paediatric First Aid and Safe Guarding, the children’s safety and welfare is paramount and we know, first hand, that there can be no compromise on this.
Finally, a little more about me. I have been with Cherubs Nurseries since 2015. I found a passion for Childcare after having my own child, I started volunteering at a play group, which then lead to a part time job which then developed into a full time career, as my family grew. I then discovered that I really loved the nursery environment and decided to pursue a career in the industry. I currently have a BA in Early Years Childcare with Leadership and have qualified as an EYPS in addition to completing all the standard Cherubs Nurseries training which involves Paediatric First Aid and Safe Guarding.
There is so much more I would love to tell you about our nursery. However, nothing beats coming to view the nursery for yourself. With that being said, I would like to invite you to come for a show round at your leisure to see what makes us so special.

Our baby suite is a unique environment tailor made to stimulate very young minds as they begin to explore the world. Designed based on the latest Baby Brain research the baby suits are the perfect environment for your child.
Our toddler suite invites our young inquisitive and enthusiastic children to join in with the carefully planned and organised exciting activities throughout the day, all within a purpose built environment. There is real focus on providing lots of physical adventures as well as opportunities for quiet time, creative time and role play. Our open door policy encourages parents to pop in at any time.
Our Pre-School is a large and open environment where children are free to make their own choices. There are numerous activity areas and resources are stored at child-level so that children can lead their own play.
Heightening the senses of our children, our sensory area within our baby suite is an environment full of toys and objects which children love to see, hear and feel.
Purpose Built Environment
Our nursery benefits from being a purpose built environment that has been designed in consultation with children and parents.
Our nursery provides the opportunity for our children to experience forestry style experiences right outside the door. These experiences provide children with the opportunity to discover the natural environment, play within it and share fun times with their friends hiding, building and exploring.
The next Bill Gates? Our nursery features the latest IT facilities for children to play and learn on. From our tablet tables to computers, Children are able to use these facilities as an essential learning resource, helping to equip them for the technological world we live in.
We know how important it is for children to eat a healthy balanced diet. This is why our nursery has a dedicated chef who develops nutritionally balanced meals for your child to enjoy and help them start good eating habits.
Blossom Educational Software
Blossom allows the childcare team to effectively track your child’s learning journey, electronically, via iPads. You can view this, at any time, and contribute via the parents smartphone app.
Food for thought
Our seasonal menus are nutritionally balanced and varied, which allows the children to experience a wide variety of flavours and textures. As for standards we expect a lot from ourselves and so can you. Our kitchen is regularly expected by the Food Standards Agency, where we have been praised for our high standards. We’re also proud to cater for children with special dietary needs including allergies, intolerances and cultural preferences.
