Looking forward to 2022 – an update from CEO, Susan Mills

Every year, when I sit down to write this post I become increasingly proud of where we are, what we have achieved and what we have planned for the New Year. At Cherubs Nurseries, we don’t rest on our laurels and it’s one of the things we do really well as a team – we are always looking at where we can improve, where we are heading and how we can ensure we continue to provide the very best early years experience. It’s important our focus remains on the children and how we can support our team to consistently deliver our award-winning service.

Despite the challenges we are facing with Covid-19 and a skills shortage across the early years sector, our team have continued to provide an unrivalled early years experience for our children, parents and families. As a result of this, we have 2 Ofsted “Good” gradings under our belt at Cherubs Edwinstowe and Sutton in Ashfield – under the new Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Additionally, over 1,000 verified parent reviews on DayNurseries.co.uk and not to mention being shortlisted for Nursery Group of the Year at the Nursery World Awards. Earlier in the year, we conducted our annual parent satisfaction survey where we received lots of positive feedback and some great suggestions from parents that we are currently working on implementing.

When it comes to the tangible achievements, we welcomed Cherubs Mapperley to our family-run group in May. The nursery has continued to establish itself in the local community and we are looking forward to seeing the nursery go from strength to strength throughout 2022. I’m proud to share that we completed our full refurbishment at Cherubs Kimberley, a full refurbishment at Cherubs South Normanton and are almost complete with our full refurbishment at Cherubs Longdale. Both Cherubs Kimberley and Ruddington also received new Timotay Playscapes outdoor environments to enhance the provision. It goes without saying that our Estates and Facilities Team have done an incredible job to continue to make Cherubs Nurseries a great place to be for everyone.

Looking forward to 2022, we have plans to refurbish more nurseries and are working through our 5-year plan to refurbish all nurseries – aligning with our blended approach inspired by Montessori, Hygge, Reggio and Forest School. We also have a huge focus on the training and development of our team across the business to ensure they are best-placed to provide high quality teaching and learning for the children. Growth is never something we shy away from too and are actively exploring opportunities across the Midlands.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and families for their continued support throughout 2021. We have an incredibly supportive parent community across the group, which has allowed us to effectively manage the Covid-19 pandemic and associated issues as a result. Of course, it goes without saying that none of this could have been possible with our talented Educators and the passion and drive from our Senior Management, Head Office and Central Support Teams. Here’s to 2022 and our 29th year in business!
