So you’re interested in Cherubs South Normanton? Let Nursery Manager, Liz tell you more about it…
Cherubs South Normanton is a small rural nursery, situated in the heart of South Normanton. There are regular bus links into Derbyshire, the surrounding areas and further afield and direct access to the M1, which means it’s great for both local and commuting parents alike.
When it comes to Ofsted we have maintained our “Good” rating for sometime now. In our most recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 16th May 2017, Ofsted Inspector, Kim Barker praised the nursery stating that “Staff imaginatively and creatively organise a highly stimulating environment for children. This helps children to explore their recent learning, practise new skills, and follow their own interests.” and “Babies and children develop the skills and knowledge they need for the next stage in their learning and when they are ready for the move on to school. Children display high levels of independence, trust and curiosity.” If you would like to read more, please download the report here.
We have a very well-established team here at Cherubs South Normanton. Many of my colleagues have been here for years and it’s great to see the same smiley faces everyday. It’s great for us and even better for the children as it means that they are able to build strong bonds with the childcare team, enhancing their time at nursery. All our childcare team are DBS checked and training towards accredited qualifications. We also train the entire team in Paediatric First Aid and Safe Guarding, the children’s safety and welfare is paramount and we know, first hand, that there can be no compromise on this.
Finally, a little more about me. I initially started working for Cherubs Nurseries in 2010, where I completed my Level 2 and Level 3 in Childcare. After this, I relocated to Norfolk continuing to work in childcare and gaining experience as a Room Leader and Nursery Manager. To continue with my professional development, I recently completed by Level 5 in Management. I am incredibly passionate about the outdoors and gardening – I have my own chickens at home. I champion the benefits of spending time outdoors too and love to get out and about on my bike. I can’t wait to implement more outdoor play at Cherubs South Normanton.
There is so much more I would love to tell you about our nursery. However, nothing beats coming to view the nursery for yourself. With that being said, I would like to invite you to come for a show round at your leisure to see what makes us so special.

Our toddler suite invites our young inquisitive and enthusiastic children to join in with the carefully planned and organised exciting activities throughout the day, all within a purpose built environment. There is real focus on providing lots of physical adventures as well as opportunities for quiet time, creative time and role play. Our open door policy encourages parents to pop in at any time.
Our Pre-School is a large and open environment where children are free to make their own choices. There are numerous activity areas and resources are stored at child-level so that children can lead their own play.
Our children love the large garden complete with bespoke outdoor learning environments. The unique space has been created in consultation with our children and is based on the latest research.
Our nursery provides the opportunity for our children to experience forestry style experiences right outside the door. These experiences provide children with the opportunity to discover the natural environment, play within it and share fun times with their friends hiding, building and exploring.
The next Bill Gates? Our nursery features the latest IT facilities for children to play and learn on. From our tablet tables to computers, Children are able to use these facilities as an essential learning resource, helping to equip them for the technological world we live in.
We know how important it is for children to eat a healthy balanced diet. This is why our nursery has a dedicated chef who develops nutritionally balanced meals for your child to enjoy and help them start good eating habits.
Blossom Educational Software
Blossom allows the childcare team to effectively track your child’s learning journey, electronically, via iPads. You can view this, at any time, and contribute via the parents smartphone app.
Food for thought
Our seasonal menus are nutritionally balanced and varied, which allows the children to experience a wide variety of flavours and textures. As for standards we expect a lot from ourselves and so can you. Our kitchen is regularly expected by the Food Standards Agency, where we have been praised for our high standards. We’re also proud to cater for children with special dietary needs including allergies, intolerances and cultural preferences.
