So you’re interested in Cherubs South Normanton? Let Nursery Manager, Rachel tell you more about it…
“Cherubs Day Nursery, South Normanton is situated in the heart of South Normanton. Previously Busy Bee Day Nursery, Cherubs Nurseries acquired the nursery in 2013 and have recently rebranded, bringing lots of new and exciting opportunities with this. Getting to the nursery there are regular bus links into Derbyshire, the surrounding areas and further afield and direct access to the M1, which means it’s great for both local and commuting parents alike.
When it comes to Ofsted we have maintained our “Good” rating for sometime now. In our most recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 16th May 2017, Ofsted Inspector, Kim Barker praised the nursery stating that “Staff imaginatively and creatively organise a highly stimulating environment for children. This helps children to explore their recent learning, practise new skills, and follow their own interests.” and “Babies and children develop the skills and knowledge they need for the next stage in their learning and when they are ready for the move on to school. Children display high levels of independence, trust and curiosity.” If you would like to read more, please download the report here.
We have a very well-established team here at Cherubs South Normanton. Many of my colleagues have been here for years and it’s great to see the same smiley faces everyday. It’s great for us and even better for the children as it means that they are able to build strong bonds with the childcare team, enhancing their time at nursery. All our childcare team are DBS checked and training towards accredited qualifications. We also train the entire team in Paediatric First Aid and Safe Guarding, the children’s safety and welfare is paramount and we know, first hand, that there can be no compromise on this.
Finally, a little more about me. I joined Cherubs Nurseries in 2014 and was previously based at Cherubs Longdale as their Assistant Nursery Manager. I was promoted to Nursery Manager at Cherubs South Normanton in December 2019. I have always been passionate about childcare and providing all children with the very best start in life. I hold a Level 3 in Childcare, Level 2 in Children and Adult Mental Health and Level 2 in Understanding Autism.
There is so much more I would love to tell you about our nursery. However, nothing beats coming to view the nursery for yourself. With that being said, I would like to invite you to come for a show round at your leisure to see what makes us so special.”

The next Bill Gates? Our nursery features the latest IT facilities for children to play and learn on. From our tablet tables to computers, Children are able to use these facilities as an essential learning resource, helping to equip them for the technological world we live in.
We know how important it is for children to eat a healthy balanced diet. This is why our nursery has a dedicated chef who develops nutritionally balanced meals for your child to enjoy and help them start good eating habits.
Blossom Educational Software
Blossom allows the childcare team to effectively track your child’s learning journey, electronically, via iPads. You can view this, at any time, and contribute via the parents smartphone app.
Food for thought
Our Nursery Chef, Valerie is passionate about all things food. She is always trying out new dishes to add to our menus, which always gain child-approval before earning a spot on our nursery menu. Our seasonal menus are nutritionally balanced and varied, which allows the children to experience a wide variety of flavours and textures.
As for standards, our nursery kitchen has been graded a 5 Food Hygiene Rating from the Food Standards Agency. We’re also proud to cater for children with special dietary needs including allergies, intolerances and cultural preferences.
