Your questions, our answers

We know that finding the right children’s day nursery comes with lots of questions. Our FAQ page provides clear answers about our nursery settings, early years education, childcare funding, admissions, and what to expect when your child joins us. Whether you’re exploring childcare for the first time or preparing your child to start nursery, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Questions about my child’s experience

We are able to care for children aged 6-weeks to 5-years. Our Educators are especially trained to care for even the youngest babies, and prepare them for their next stage of learning when they’re in our Pre-School room.

To support children’s behaviours, we work together as a team and in partnership with parents using calm, immediate intervention. We support emotional regulation first, teaching alternative behaviours using proportionate and age-appropriate language, tools and resources.

Time outside varies from room to room, as their routine differs. We encourage our Educators to spend as much time outside as possible and some nurseries are able to offer free-flow between the indoors and outdoors.

We use IT to enhance your child’s learning and time with us, not as a replacement for our Educators. iPads, TV screens and interactive tables are used throughout the nursery to access food recipes, bring up reference photographs or videos (for learning) or to play videos or audio to support Cherubs Enrich+.

As part of our Cherubs Enrich+ programme we offer regular Baby Sensory (under 2’s), Zumibi (2-3 years) and Sports Coach (3-5 years) along with Forest School and Baking.

Questions about our team

We are committed to hiring the best people, who share our commitment to excellence in early years. We have built a robust recruitment process to ensure the team looking after your child is happy, caring and compassionate. Everyone goes through an induction process relevant to their role to ensure they meet and exceed the standards we set and you can rightly expect.

We’re incredibly proud to have male Early Years Educators at Cherubs Nurseries. Gender does not play a part in whether a person makes a good Educator or not. Everyone, regardless of gender, carries out the same duties and role.

Questions about the nursery environment

All our nurseries are fitted with CCTV to keep our children and team safe. In order to keep this secure and to comply with GDPR, we do not allow this to be viewed remotely.

To arrange a viewing at one of our nurseries, please contact our Parent Experience Team. They will be able to match your availability to that of your desired nursery. Our viewings usually take place at 10am or 2pm, to align seamlessly into the day for our children. Our nurseries are sometimes able to accommodate “drop in” viewings too, but we always recommend booking something in.

Our Educators plan exciting and engaging activities and experiences to support children’s learning and development. Due to the nature of these, children can sometimes get a little messy. We will always ensure children remain clean and comfortable whilst with us including cleaning hands, wiping faces and noses. However, we do not recommend sending your child to nursery in expensive or “best” clothing.

Questions about our nursery food

At Cherubs Nurseries, we will do our best to accommodate all dietary requirements as best as we can. Your Head of Nursery will invite you in for a chat along with our Nursery Chef to put together a dietary plan for your child. We are do our best to remain a “nut free” nursery, and ask parents for their support in achieving this.

We take children’s dietary requirements seriously, as we know some can be life-threatening. All our Early Years Educators receive training on how to manage children’s needs relating to food. Our Heads of Nursery and Nursery Chefs receive enhanced training, particularly relating to Allergies. We use purple crockery to manage meal times, and each child with an allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement has their own placemat. In addition, children are always supervised at mealtimes – with an Educator at every table, overseen by a Qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator with Paediatric First Aid.

Questions about Nursery fees and Government Funding

We increase our fees every year, usually in April. Where possible, we try to keep increases to once per year.

This varies from child to child, especially when you take into account Government funding, tax-free childcare and sessions required. The best way to find out cost, is to get in touch with our Parent Experience Team. They will be able to calculate your monthly fee, based on you requirements.

Yes! We offer a sibling discount if 2 children are attending 3 or more full or short days per week, a 10% discount will be applied to the eldest child. We also offer a full time discount if your child attends 5 short or full days per week they will be entitled to the 10% discount. This is only applied to full months fees and does not include part monthly fees.

We believe children get the most out of nursery when they attend all year around. At Cherubs Nurseries, Government Funding is “stretched” over the entire year so we can provide you with childcare all year round – as opposed to just term-time.

I still can’t find the answer to my question, can you help?

Of course, we can! Cherubs Nurseries are here to help you every step of the way, please contact our dedicated Parent Experience Team today on 0330 0553373 or email enquiries@cherubsnurseries.com who will be happy to assist.
