Parent Partnership

At Cherubs Nurseries, we know it takes a village to raise a child and are committed to creating a culture of mutual trust, respect and understanding. Research shows that involving parents and carers in their children’s learning is the most important factor in enabling children to do well regardless of background.

We welcome parent involvement as much as possible, and encourage parents to get involved in their child’s time at Cherubs Nurseries by:

Uploading Observations from Home, via Nursery in a Box

Use the Parent’s App to share observations, photographs and videos from home. Your child’s Key Person can then use these to continue your child’s learning and development whilst with us.

Sharing your passions or skills

We are proud of our diverse parent communities and encourage our parents to share their passion, skills or occupation with us. This can be done in a variety of ways and can often be linked to our curriculum topics. From cookery to woodwork, painting or reading stories – we would love to welcome you into our nurseries.

Joining us for parent partnership events

From regular Stay and Play sessions to our Art Show, Summer Fair or Pre-School Graduation. We have many opportunities for you to join us. Updates will come via Nursery in a Box, Nursery Snapshot (or email) be shared on the Nursery A-Board.

Family Rooms

We have dedicated spaces at our nurseries for our parents to come together. Whether you would like to meet with the team, fire through a few emails with a coffee or hire the space for a meeting or class.

We currently have Family Rooms at many of our nurseries including:

  • Cherubs Executive House (space for 4)
  • Cherubs Ilkeston (space for 6-8)
  • Cherubs Kimberley (space for 6-8)
  • Cherubs Longdale (space for 8)
  • Cherubs Mapperley (space for 4)

Our Family Rooms vary by size and facilities, but we can always guarantee comfy seats, great Wi-Fi and a good cup of tea or coffee!

Sharing your Feedback

All our nurseries have an open-door policy, and our Heads of Nursery welcome the opportunity to drive continuous improvement. Parents are also invited to take part in our annual Parent Satisfaction Survey and ad-hoc surveys throughout the year. Feedback can also be shared via our Parent Experience Team on parents@cherubsnurseries.com.

Accessibility

We want all parents and carers to be a part of their child’s time with us. We acknowledge we have a diverse parent community with different needs. To support these, we can:

  • Utilise translation apps for parents/carers whose first language is not English.
  • Support parents/carers with disabilities or access requirements.
  • Support parents with learning and sight difficulties by understanding how you communicate best and providing information in this format.

How we Communicate

We believe open, transparent and timely communication is essential to maintaining a trustworthy and respectful relationship. It also ensures that we are able to provide the highest quality care and education to the children we care for. Over the years we have worked with our parent community to gather their feedback around what works best. Here’s how we currently communicate with our parents.

In-Person (Daily, on Drop Off and Pick Up Handovers)

You will be able to share information with us when you drop your child off. You may want to share:

  • What your child has eaten so far that day
  • How they slept
  • Who will be picking your child up from nursery

When you pick up your child, our Early Years Educators will give you a summary of your child’s learning and experience for the day. Any information relating to sleep, food, drink or medication will be shared in real time via Nursery in a Box. From Pre-School, we do not provide information relating to food or drink, as we like to share these experiences and updates with you and your child at your handover.

All our nurseries also have a Parent Information and Staff Board. There you’ll find all the latest information from your nursery along with the team taking care of your child. If you’re not sure where these are, just ask and we’ll show you the way.

Digitally  (Daily, via Nursery in a Box)

The nursery team will communicate with you in real time via Nursery in a Box. Please ensure you have the Parent App downloaded to see updates from your nursery. Live updates will come in the form of news bulletins, photographs, written observations and key milestones. Please note, we favour quality over quantity for both photographs and written observations. However, you can expect:

  • Daily photographs
  • At least two observations per month, from your child’s Key Person
  • At least one Assessment per year (either a Transition Assessment, 2-year Check, General Assessment or School Transition Assessment).

Through Nursery in a Box, you can also let us know about:

  • Ad-Hoc Absences
  • Upcoming Holidays or time away from nursery
  • Any extra sessions you would like to book

Messaging Feature, via Nursery in a Box

Please use the messaging feature on Nursery in a Box to communicate with us. This keeps everything in one place. You can use this for:

  • General requests or questions

Monthly, via Nursery Email Snapshot

Your Head of Nursery will put together a Snapshot to send at the start of each month. This contains:

  • Update from Head of Nursery
  • Current Curriculum and Learning Opportunities
  • Diary Dates

Of course, we are always happy to speak in-person, on the telephone or via email. Our teams will do our best to get back to you as soon as they can. We’re committed the safety, security and high-quality care of your children, who always come first.
