Every year, we partner with a charity or cause that means something to us. Selected by our parents, team and partners in 2024, we were proud to have Children with Cancer UK as our charity partner. Every day in the UK, 10 children and young people receive the devastating news that they have cancer.
Throughout 2024, our teams planned and hosted more than 30 fundraising events from summer fairs to sponsored walks and much more. Thanks to the generosity of our parents and families we were able to raise £12,500. Looking back on this successful partnership, Susan Mills (Founder and CEO) of Cherubs Nurseries said “Our 2024 fundraising was one of our most successful to date. The charity really resonated with our parents and teams – especially as (sadly) some of the children we care for have received cancer diagnoses. It has been a pleasure to be able to contribute to the incredible work Children with Cancer UK do and learn more about how we can better support our children (and their families) whose lives are changed as a result of living with cancer.”
The charity recently released a 90-minute film, following the lives of eight remarkable young people from across the UK and US who have faced the unimaginable. Kids Like Us is a landmark documentary which hopes to change the way we view childhood cancer and the issues that surround it. It’s available to watch now on Sky and NOW TV.
Izzy Skelly (Community Events Fundraiser) thanked everyone at Cherubs Nurseries for their efforts, saying “From all of us at Children with Cancer UK, we would like to say a huge thank you for raising the amazing amount of £12,587.16. Your incredible fundraising will make a vital difference to children and young people with cancer, by funding support for them and their families through treatment and beyond.
With your help we can continue our work to fund pioneering research to find effective, kinder, and less frightening treatments for children and young people. Around 4,200 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK, and we’ve been working tirelessly since 1988 to fund research and initiatives that support children and their families through their cancer journey.”
To further strengthen its positive impact, the charity is proud to share the opening of its Raines Retreat on Raines Farm in Allerston, near Pickering in North Yorkshire. It will be a beautiful holiday retreat for families who desperately need a break and give them the chance to make precious, happy memories. Set to complete in spring 2025, it will include four standalone holiday cottages, one being fully wheelchair friendly and the redevelopment of an existing farmhouse building into two holiday lets, allowing capacity for up to 27 people at a time. The retreat will also include a new reflection garden, which will offer families a safe space to relax and connect with nature.
In March 2025, Cherubs Nurseries Founder and CEO, Susan and Director of Brand Development, Harry had the opportunity to visit the Children with Cancer UK offices in London. Alongside officially presenting the charity with the donation they were able to speak with charity CEO, Amar, about the charity’s current plans and how our donation will make a real difference (photographed above).
Since 2014 and the beginning of our Community Life work, Cherubs Nurseries has raised almost £100,000 for local and national charities and causes – just like Children with Cancer UK. You can find out more about our impact here.
