Sadly, every year in the UK, an estimated 15% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, and over 4,500 babies are stillborn or die within the first 4 weeks of life. Sands is a charity dedicated to reducing this number by supporting vital research, training healthcare professionals to improve maternity and bereavement care, campaigning for policy change, and, when the very worst happens, providing essential support for anyone affected by this most tragic of loss.
£22,059 Raised Through the Big Give Match Funding
This year, our parents helped us raise £9,804 for our 2025 charity partner, Sands. Thanks to the “Big Give”, this was match-funded, increasing the value of our donation to £22,059. Thank you to all parents and families who have so kindly and generously supported our fundraising events.
A Message of Thanks from Sands
Following our donation, Hannah Peck (Strategic Partnerships Manager at Sands) said, “We are so grateful for the incredible fundraising efforts and generosity shown by the teams and families at Cherubs Nurseries. Every pound raised helps Sands provide vital support to bereaved families and drive forward our work to save babies’ lives. Your kindness makes a lasting difference and ensures that no family has to face pregnancy or baby loss alone.”
Here’s how our donations will make a lasting difference:
- £25 – could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.
- £36.02 – could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has experienced pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
- £98.37 – could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access training, guidance and support.
How Sands Provides Compassionate Bereavement Support
Sands know that everyone is affected differently and that there is no right or wrong way to feel. Each person needs different types of support, and this can change over time. Some people may be happy to talk, others might take comfort from quietly reading about others’ experiences, while some may prefer face-to-face support. They offer varied services, which you can find out more about here.
