Coming Soon our “I Can” Curriculum

2026 brings with it something new and exciting for Cherubs Nurseries, the launch of our new, bespoke “I Can” curriculum.

When developing our new curriculum we considered the current state of play, paying special attention to where society is currently at and the needs of the children we’re currently caring for. Zooming out to gain perspective is key to developing a curriculum that doesn’t just meet the needs of today’s generation, but fuels tomorrow’s world too.

Since 2023, we have been developing our new curriculum – taking into account parent and team feedback, conducting extensive research and utilising the skill and experience of our long-standing team. Our key considerations included:

  • Ensuring inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Prioritising communication and language, opportunities for play, social interaction and curiosity.
  • Ensuring our parent communication is intentionally included, bringing worthwhile opportunities to be part of their children’s journeys.

Our “I Can” curriculum brings together all aspects of a child’s journey at Cherubs Nurseries – from how we welcome new children and families to the way we plan focused and purposeful learning, foster emotional wellbeing and actively engage families in every step of the journey.

It comes together under 5 pillars:

  1. I can reach my full potential
  2. I can be a confident communicator
  3. I can think, make and solve
  4. I can make a difference
  5. I can be happy, safe and healthy

Ahead of the launch, Director of Brand Development, Harry Mills said “This is a huge milestone for Cherubs Nurseries. Not many nurseries or groups commit to doing something like this, when it comes to their curriculum. For a group our size to deliver something of this magnitude is incredible. It truly showcases what can be done when our team comes together and highlights our commitment to our vision – to give all children the personalities, skills and experiences to take on the world without limitations.”

How does this curriculum differ from what we currently offer?

  • Introduction of Book and Artist of the Month to complement learning about the seasons and taking part in acknowledgment days. In addition to more opportunities for trips outside of the nursery.
  • Huge focus on inclusion with Now and Next Boards in all rooms, emotion, affirmation and makaton cards (to allow children to communicate verbally and non-verbally) and a bespoke pathways for SEND and EAL that empower children, meeting them where they are at.
  • Introducing a Pre-School Council – “Little Voices, Big Ideas”, where children will have their say in how their room is run and promote positive change.
  • More parent partnership days including set “Stay and Play” sessions for parents every two months, an annual Art Show and a “School and Beyond” evening for parents of those children leaving us to go to School.

Existing parents are invited to “Come and See” events taking place across all nurseries from w/c 8th December, hosted by our Heads of Nursery and I Can Champions. Please speak to your HoN for more information.

This isn’t just a curriculum. It’s a commitment. A commitment to high expectations. A commitment to curiosity, creativity and confidence. A commitment to ensuring every child leaves us believing not only that they can – but that they already are.
