Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid announced as 2022 charity partner

Since 2014 we have worked with many incredible of charities and causes, as part of our commitment to making the communities we serve better places ton live, work and grow up in. Over the years, we have raised in excess of £55,000 for charities and causes including Theodora Children’s Charity, Rainbows Children’s Hospice and YoungMinds. Throughout 2020 and 2021 (and the Covid-19 pandemic) we raised just under £5,000 for YoungMinds and CentrePoint. Of course, none of this would be possible without the unwavering and generous support of our parents and families to support and donate to our events.

After consultation with our parents, staff and children we are proud to announce Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid as our partner for 2022. Established in 1984, Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Limited (NWAL) provide a safe environment for women with ongoing support, advice, counselling and learning opportunities. They believe that every woman should live a life free from abuse and be the director in their own lives. Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid offer:

  • A domestic abuse support service
  • Intervention and recovery services
  • Children and young people’s domestic abuse support
  • Independent domestic violence advocate service
  • Refuge support services
  • A safe space at the Farr Centre, supporting women, young people and children

A special thanks to Sarah Hickling (Nursery Manager at Cherubs Edwinstowe) for nominating this charity. At Cherubs Nurseries, we really resonate with their mission and are looking forward to supporting them. We would like to share that all our nurseries now offer a safe space and all staff are receiving additional training on how to support our parents who are victims of domestic violence – no matter your gender or how you identify. If you are experiencing domestic abuse and need immediate help, just ask for Ani.

Susan Mills, Founder and CEO said “We are proud to announce our partnership with Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid. In the year ending March 2021, the police in England and Wales recorded a total of 1,459,663 domestic abuse-related incidents – 73% of these were against women. There is definitely more that can be done to raise awareness around domestic violence and to offer our nurseries as a safe space. I hope we can raise a substantial amount this year to support our charity partner to continue their incredibly worthwhile work across Nottinghamshire.” Erin Devitt, Business Development Coordinator at NWAL added “We are really happy to be a charity partner of Cherubs Nurseries throughout 2022. We look forward to working together to support our community.”

Throughout 2022 we will aim to fundraise as much as possible through fundraising and sponsored events at all our nurseries, with a target of £10,000. To find out more about Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid please click here.
