Looking forward to 2020 – an update from Managing Director, Susan Mills

I really cannot believe we are at the end of another year at Cherubs Nurseries. It seems like only yesterday that I sat here reflecting on 2018 and looking forward to the new year.

Looking back, 2019 has been another exciting, vibrant and successful year for us. We’ve continued to grow – welcoming Cherubs Edwinstowe and Cherubs Ruddington to our family. Both nurseries have been fully refurbished (thanks to the hard work of our talented estates team) and offer an all-natural approach, something I’m incredibly passionate about and something that has proven incredibly successful. You can find out more about our new approach to the early year’s here.

We’ve worked hard behind the scenes too and earlier in the year we welcomed some new individuals to our central support team. Doing this has enabled us to strengthen our senior management team and put us in a great position for growth – something that we’re always keen to do. I am now confident that we will be able to deliver on any future growth plans and make a success of them.

Speaking of our childcare, we have continued to invest in the service we offer ensuring value for money for our parents. Earlier in the year, Cherubs Ladybrook had their Ofsted inspection, where they maintained their “Good” grading. Our primary school, Saville House was also graded “Good” in their Ofsted inspection too. These results are testament to the fantastic childcare and education our team provide everyday and the positive outcomes they work hard to enable all children in their care to achieve.

Our great work hasn’t gone unnoticed by the early year’s sector either. This year, we were once again recognised by DayNurseries.co.uk (for being top-rated by our parents), Nursery World and Nursery Management Today. Congratulations to Charlotte Atkins (Cherubs Longdale) who scooped Newcomer of the Year at this year’s Nursery World Awards and to the whole team as we were shortlisted (for the second year running) for Nursery Group of the Year at the Nursery Management Today Awards.

In addition to this we have thoroughly enjoyed partnering with Theodora Children’s Charity this year. In total we have raised over £10,000 which will enable them to provide around 1,000 Giggle Doctor visits to children in hospitals all over the United Kingdom and closer to home at the Nottingham City Hospital. We were also invited to help them celebrate at their 25th Anniversary event in November. Thank you to all children, families and staff who so fondly supported Theodora this year.

There really are so many more notable events that have made 2019 so memorable, a quick flick through our social media or blog on our website will show that. However, there is one common denominator that makes these memorable events and Cherubs Nurseries, and that is our people. From our childcare team to our nursery support team, estates and central support. Every single person has a part to play and does so with pride, dedication and drive to ensure that we provide the very best childcare and are the best place to work. I would like to personally thank them all for everything they do for the children we care for, the families who trust us to be their childcare provider and for their colleagues. I’m sure every team member will all know what I’m talking about when I say that there is something so unique about Cherubs Nurseries and the way we do things. Something different about how our nurseries feel and the results we achieve for our children and the business.

So, looking forward to 2020 and the plans for our 27th year of business. We will, of course, continue to work on the childcare we provide ensuring it is of the highest standard possible. This will come from a huge investment in training and development across all areas of the business, throughout 2020. We really want to continue to invest in our systems too. This will enable us to offer a streamlined service for our parents and staff and ensure we continue to offer value for money. What is so exciting about the childcare sector is that it’s so fast-paced and ever-changing, so there is always something to get excited about.

Here’s to 2020, our 27th year of business and another memorable year to add to the history of Cherubs Nurseries.
