The People Who Make Us: Sarah Savage, Operations Manager
Throughout the year we’re going to be sharing stories of our colleagues in a new blog series titled “The People Who Make Us”. From our long-standing team members to those working behind the scenes. We hope this will provide a fabulous insight into those interested in the industry and those looking to apply for a job at Cherubs Nurseries.
This month would like to introduce Sarah, our Operations Manager. Joining us in 2006, as a Duty Nursery Manager, Sarah has grown with the business and now works alongside our Managing Director and Quality Manager. Read Sarah’s story below:
“My Cherubs Nurseries career began in April 2006. I started as a Duty Manager at Cherubs Wynndale before being promoted to Nursery Manager, working across the group at Cherubs Wynndale, Pleasley, Executive House and Vale View. The experience I gained over the years then enabled me to go for promotion, gaining Senior Manager before being promoted again to Assistant Operations Manager in August 2014.
I believe the key to succeeding in a career at Cherubs Nurseries is to always do your best, taking pride in your work. It’s also worthwhile to make the best of every situation and encourage your colleagues to do the same. Advice I would give to someone looking to being promoted is to just go for it. However, it’s important to demonstrate what you can do in your current role and display the potential you have to progress. It’s important to ensure that you keep this up, as consistency in any role is key.
In June 2016 I was promoted to Operations Manager and I’ve been working in that role since. It’s an incredibly busy role but the opportunities and experience the role has given me, has allowed me to effectively support our colleagues to do their best, always delivering the high standard of childcare we’ve become known for. Looking to the future, my role are always changing (just like the fantastic industry we are in). It would be such an achievement for all nurseries in our group to become Ofsted Outstanding, it’s what everyone is working for. I would also like to continue to support our Managing Director in moving our company forward, ensuring a strong, sustainable and successful future for Cherubs Nurseries.”
